The 2023 InnovationAus Awards for Excellence have been announced, with Synchron’s Professor Nick Opie (pictured above) among those taking out a top gong at this month’s prestigious event.
Hosted by independent publisher, InnovationAus, the awards recognise outstanding trailblazers across Australia’s tech ecosystem.
Professor Opie was presented with The Paul Shetler Disruptor of the Year Award at the November event, which celebrates those who have demonstrated major impact and future vision in their field.
“Professor Opie is a trailblazer in the use of neural interfaces to help people with medical conditions gain independence through the use of digital technologies… His innovative work typifies the power of disruption that the Paul Shetler award aims to honour,” said InnovationAus in a statement.
Also recognised was Sydney-based tech company Harrison.ai, which took out the Health Tech Award for its work applying artificial intelligence-enabled solutions to improve the accuracy, speed and scale of medical diagnostics.
