A Breakfast of Champions

At this month’s EY-supported Bionics Breakfast with the Recover Injury Centre and Queensland Brain Injury Collaborative, three talented young innovators (including 2020 and 2022 winners of our MAIC-supported Bionics Challenge) inspired a state-wide audience.

From QBI’s Balbi Lab, Montana Samantzis had us enthralled with initial findings from her study of evoked neural oscillations and the related use of optical light to inform a new non-invasive device to quickly restore and maintain brain health following a stroke.

Griffith University’s Dr David Painter wowed the audience with his Attention Atlas VR platform to markedly improve the diagnosis of treatment of visuospatial deficit caused by brain injury.

Jacinta Foster followed with a compelling overview of her VR/AR-enabled concussion treatment at the newly opened Vestibular Clinic in Logan City.

It was certainly an inspiring morning for all those who joined us both in-person and online. Stay tuned for more Bionic Breakfasts to come!
