Sometimes service support complicates the life of those who have chronic disabilities way more than it should with today’s technologies.

What started as a sore throat led to devastating complications for Matthew Ames, and the loss of all four of his limbs.

He had contracted a streptococcal infection resulting in toxic shock, and was never expected to survive. Matthew suffered kidney failure, a detached retina, and permanent hearing loss in addition to the loss of his arms and legs.

Matthew’s journey to find the best possible prosthetics and supporting technologies continues, but as he reflects in this video, having digital access to a My Health Record would also transform the lives of those who face complex disabilities and chronic disease.
