International Accolade for Australian Medical Pioneer

Renowned throughout the world as the inventor of the multi-channel cochlear implant, Melbourne-based Professor Graeme Clark AC has been awarded a highly prestigious international accolade for his transformative application of bioengineering solutions in healthcare.

Jointly awarded to Professor Clark and Professor Blake Wilson from Duke University, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 2024 Medal for Innovations in Healthcare Technology was given in recognition of their remarkable innovation which has been responsible for restoring the hearing of thousands of deaf adults and children globally, as well as inspiring the design of many other bionic devices.

Professor Clark and fellow recipients will be formally celebrated at The 2024 IEEE Honours Ceremony in the United States next year.
