One of the largest US outpatient medical imaging providers and radiology practices has released new data demonstrating the remarkable impact of artificial intelligence (AI) diagnosis tools for delivering faster and more accurate X-ray exams.

Presenting at the 2023 Radiological Society of North America’s Radiology Conference and Annual Meeting, SimonMed Imaging said its retrospective study of data from 14 outpatient imaging centres found AI automation technology delivered results 82 percent faster than readings without the technology.

SimonMed also reported that the technology had resulted in fractures being diagnosed six times faster when utilising AI.

“Through the use of AI, we are not only able to help radiologists work more accurately and efficiently, we can use entirely new methods for diagnoses,” said SimonMed Chief Executice Officer, Dr John Simon in a press statement.

SimonMed Chief Innovation Officer, Dr Sean Raj added: ““The groundbreaking results of our study unequivocally demonstrate the transformative impact of AI in revolutionizing diagnostic efficiency and accuracy.”

“By embracing cutting-edge technology, such as AI, we are not only accelerating patient care but also ensuring the highest standards of precision.”

The company noted it would continue to ensure radiologists read all reports first for accuracy.
