Research published in Nature last month confirms a wearable ultrasound patch that can continuously capture imagery of a person’s heart, which due to its flexible build can be worn even during intense exercise.

The breakthrough device uses specialised deep learning artificial intelligence (AI) that processes the images to measure and assess cardiac performance in real time.

It is an exciting step in the management of cardiovascular disease, providing a more effective alternative to current non-invasive methods of real-time cardiac assessment that deliver a snapshot only at a specific time.
