The Australian Government has released its new plan for digital health over the next decade, outlining the central role such technologies will play in tackling the nation’s healthcare challenges.

The Digital Health Blueprint 2023-2033 and Action Plan aims to guide the digital capabilities of Australia’s health system, outlining a roadmap for designing and delivering a more connected multidisciplinary network across primary care, mental health, hospitals, preventive health, medical research and ageing.

Included in the document are a number of points relevant to the medical bionics industry, including the integration of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, wearable devices and other software-driven digital care models.

“Real-time digital capabilities and services are part of our everyday lives,” said The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Aged Care in a press statement.

“We need all parts of our health system to seamlessly connect patients and their healthcare providers, to help Australians live healthier lives.
